Jūza Engi: Legend of the Three Kingdom Crescent is a Japanese romance adventure game produced by Otomate for the Playstation Portable. Set during the Three Kingdoms period in China, it tells the story of the Maozoku, a race of beast-people known as the "cat tribe," and their interaction with humans. The Maozoku are discriminated against and called the "Jūza," referring to the fact they are excluded from the twelve zodiac signs, seen as the thirteenth zodiac. The protagonist, Kan'u, a half-human, half-Maozoku woman, and her companions Liu Bei and Zhang Fei, originally lived peaceful lives. However, with the turmoil at the end of the Han Dynasty and Cao Cao's incursion into their hidden village while pursuing the Yellow Turban rebels, the Maozoku are forced into human conflicts. The game includes not only a traditional choice-based system but also special selection mechanics where specific actions impact the narrative. The game’s plot, character relationships, and system design, which allows even visually impaired players to enjoy it, have led to positive reviews. Additionally, an OVA based on the first game was released on November 18, 2014.
