Yurikuma Arashi (ユリ熊嵐, lit. "Lily Bear Storm") is a Japanese yuri anime television series produced by Silver Link and directed by Kunihiko Ikuhara. The series aired in Japan from January 5, 2015, to March 30, 2015, and is licensed in North America by Funimation. The story unfolds after a distant planet, Kumaria, explodes, scattering debris as meteors onto Earth, causing bears to become violent and attack humans. To separate humans and bears, the "Wall of Severance" was created. Years later, two bears, Ginko Yurishiro and Lulu Yurigasaki, disguise themselves as humans and enroll in Arashigaoka Academy, where Ginko takes an interest in a human girl named Kureha Tsubaki. The anime explores themes of prejudice, fear, and love, and has been praised for tackling prejudice against gay people in Japan. It also offers deep social commentary through multivalent symbolism, historical events, and literary references. A manga adaptation, illustrated by Akiko Morishima, was serialized in Gentosha's Comic Birz magazine from February 2014 to April 2016, featuring a significantly different plot from the anime, focusing on the shy Kureha meeting transfer student Ginko, who appears in her dreams as a bear princess. Additionally, there is a novelization co-written by Kunihiko Ikuhara, Takayo Ikami, and Kei Takahashi.
