"The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan" (長門有希ちゃんの消失) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Puyo, a spin-off of Nagaru Tanigawa's "Haruhi Suzumiya" light novel series. It's based on the alternate universe featured in the fourth volume and film, "The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya." The manga was serialized in Kadokawa Shoten's "Young Ace" magazine from July 2009 to August 2016 and is licensed in North America by Yen Press. The story is set in an alternate world where Haruhi Suzumiya never formed the SOS Brigade. A key difference is that Yuki Nagato is not a stoic alien, but a shy and introverted member of the literature club, attending the same class as her best friend Ryoko Asakura and her crush, Kyon. The series focuses on Yuki as she develops feelings for Kyon and attempts to confess her love. A 16-episode anime television adaptation by Satelight aired from April to July 2015, with an OVA released in October 2015. The anime covers the first five volumes of the manga and is licensed in North America by Funimation.
