The anime aired from July 2015 to March 2018, with a total of 131 episodes. The manga began serialization in June 2015 and is still ongoing. Set after the Majin Buu saga of Dragon Ball Z, it follows the adventures of Goku and his friends as they face new universes and enemies. The series introduces new god-like characters such as Beerus and Whis, as well as new Saiyan transformations like Super Saiyan Blue. The storylines include retellings of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods and Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’, along with original arcs such as the Universe Survival and Galactic Patrol Prisoner arcs. Additionally, Dragon Ball Super has two theatrical anime films: Dragon Ball Super: Broly and Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. Dragon Ball Super has different storylines in the manga and anime, with the manga considered the 'canon sequel' to Toriyama's Dragon Ball manga. The franchise enjoys immense popularity worldwide.
