Garo: Crimson Moon

GARO: Crimson Moon is the second anime entry in the GARO franchise and serves as the first story within the anime series timeline. Animated by MAPPA, it aired in Japan from October 2015 to April 2016, consisting of 23 episodes (with one additional episode released on home video). Set in Heian-era feudal Japan, the story follows the adventures of Makai Knight Raikou, his young attendant Kintoki, and the Makai Alchemist Seimei, who has a complex past, as they fight against monsters called "Horrors." Raikou is unable to don his armor on his own and must rely on Seimei's assistance. The Horrors are linked to a dark curse-bearer named Ashiya Douman, who manipulates the downtrodden and spiteful into becoming Horrors for his own purposes. As the story unfolds, a larger scheme is revealed, and Seimei also has secrets to hide. The anime is a prequel to GARO: The Carved Seal of Flames, and it is followed by the sequel GARO: Vanishing Line and the movie GARO: The Fleeting Cherry Blossom.
