Tonkatsu DJ Agetarō (Japanese: とんかつDJアゲ太郎) is a Japanese manga series written by Yipiao and illustrated by Yūjirō Koyama. It has been serialized online via Shueisha's digital publication Shōnen Jump+ since November 2014, and also in Shueisha's fashion magazine Men's Non-no. The manga has been collected into eleven tankōbon volumes. A 12-episode anime television series adaptation directed by Akitaro Daichi and animated at Studio Deen aired between April 10 and June 26, 2016. A live-action film adaptation was originally scheduled for release on June 19, 2020, but was delayed to October 30, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The story follows Agetarou Katsumata, the third-generation heir to a tonkatsu (pork cutlet) restaurant in Shibuya, Tokyo. Agetarou spends his days idly helping out at the restaurant, until one day he delivers an order to a nightclub and is captivated by the atmosphere. He discovers a striking similarity between the rhythm of DJ music and the rhythm of preparing tonkatsu, and he decides to become a Tonkatsu DJ, aiming to become a master in both fields. The series blends tonkatsu, nightclub culture, DJing, and the urban life of Shibuya into a lighthearted and humorous comedy.
