The story is set in Gran Tesoro, a massive gold entertainment city, an "absolute sanctuary" beyond the World Government's reach, where pirates, marines, and wealthy individuals gather. The Straw Hat Pirates, drawn by the lure of excitement and riches, arrive only to find that the city is ruled by Gild Tesoro, the "Golden Emperor" with the powers of the Gold-Gold Fruit. Tesoro easily manipulates various powers with his wealth and aims to fulfill his boundless ambition, potentially causing a major shift in the New World's balance of power. After facing trials and betrayals, the Straw Hats ultimately engage in a fierce battle with Tesoro, uncovering his twisted past and motivations.
The film is directed by Hiroaki Miyamoto, written by Tsutomu Kuroiwa, and executive produced by Eiichiro Oda. It was a box office success and has been praised for its engaging plot, stunning visuals, and memorable characters. "One Piece Film: Gold" is not only an exciting action-adventure but also explores profound themes such as money, power, and dreams. It is the second movie in the franchise to be set after the two-year time skip in the manga, following "One Piece Film Z."
