Persona 5 the Animation: The Day Breakers

Persona 5 the Animation: The Day Breakers is a special episode of the Persona 5 anime series, which premiered in Japan on September 3, 2016, as a prelude to the TV anime. Produced by A-1 Pictures, the special episode tells the story of Ren Amamiya, who transfers to Shujin Academy in Tokyo, and his encounters with companions like Ryuji Sakamoto and Ann Takamaki, forming the 'Phantom Thieves of Hearts'. While serving as a preview for the main storyline, the special episode tells an independent story, not directly connected to the following TV anime. It focuses on the early actions of the Phantom Thieves and how they use their Persona abilities to alter the cognition of corrupt adults, thus achieving their goal of 'stealing hearts'. The overall atmosphere features both intense and exciting battle scenes and showcases the bonds between members of the Phantom Thieves. The release of the special episode warmed up anticipation for the TV anime's official broadcast, and also provided viewers with a window to understand the worldview and charm of the characters in Persona 5.
