Active Raid: Special Public Security Fifth Division Third Mobile Assault Eighth Unit is a Japanese original television anime series produced by Production IMS. The story is set in 2035, where Tokyo has been quickly rebuilt using high-output powered armor called "Willwears" after the Third Quicksand Disaster. However, these Willwears often fall into the wrong hands, leading the National Police Agency to establish the Fifth Special Public Security Section to handle such incidents. Among them, the Third Mobile Assault Eighth Unit, known as "Unit 8," is notorious within the police force for its reckless tactics and collateral damage. Newly appointed Assistant Inspector Asami Kazari is assigned to the unit, ostensibly to oversee them but secretly to whip this ragtag group into a true force for good. The anime is directed by Gorou Taniguchi as chief director, with Naruhisa Arakawa in charge of scripts, Shun Saeki as character designer, Asako Nishida as animation character designer, Production IMS for animation production, and Orange for 3DCG. The anime was broadcast in two seasons, the first in January 2016 and the second in July 2016.
