"Mayoiga," also known as "The Lost Village," is an original Japanese anime television series produced by Diomedéa, which aired from April to June 2016. Directed by Tsutomu Mizushima, with scripts by Mari Okada, character designs by Naomi Ide, and music by Masaru Yokoyama, the series follows 30 young men and women, each carrying their own secrets and traumas, who embark on a mysterious bus tour to the legendary Nanaki Village, a place rumored to offer a chance to start life anew, free from the constraints of the world, like a utopia. However, upon arrival, they discover a deserted and decaying village. As the story unfolds, they confront not only the secrets of the village but also their own internal conflicts and mistrust among each other. The title "Mayoiga" refers to a Japanese folktale of an illusory house in the mountains that brings wealth to visitors, though only the desireless can truly benefit. The series is known for its suspenseful setup and complex character relationships, spawning manga and novel adaptations.
