"Girlish Number" (ガーリッシュナンバー), also known as "Gi(a)rlish Number", is a Japanese multimedia project created by Wataru Watari and featuring character designs by QP:flapper. The project initially launched as a serial novel in the March 2016 issue of ASCII Media Works' Dengeki G's Magazine, and has since expanded into manga, anime, and other media. The story centers on Chitose Karasuma, a college student who enters the voice acting industry determined to avoid anything boring. However, she soon finds that the industry is not as glamorous as she imagined. The friction and competition between her and other girls working at the same voice acting agency, along with her experiences of setbacks and growth in pursuit of her dreams, form the core of this work. "Girlish Number" is known for its sharp satire of the voice acting industry and its detailed portrayal of the characters' inner worlds, prompting viewers to reflect on the industry's inner workings. The project includes a 12-episode anime television series produced by Diomedéa that aired from October to December 2016, as well as manga and novel adaptations, and various related merchandise. It has a dedicated fan base both in Japan and overseas.
