"Puzzle & Dragons X" (パズドラクロス) is a Japanese role-playing game developed by GungHo Online Entertainment for the Nintendo 3DS, a spin-off of the mobile game "Puzzle & Dragons." The game was released simultaneously in two versions on July 28, 2016: "God Chapter" and "Dragon Chapter." The game is set in a fantasy world where humans, dragonoids, and monsters coexist. In this world, spherical objects called "Drops" provide energy to monsters. Humans and dragonoids who can see the Drops are called "Dragon Callers," who can form bonds with monsters. The main story follows Ace, who aspires to become a Dragon Caller like his missing father and stop the frequent Drop Impacts. The game also has manga and anime adaptations, collaborations with other games, and dedicated wiki sites for players to discuss it. The anime, produced by Studio Pierrot, aired from July 4, 2016, to March 26, 2018, with 89 episodes. It follows Ace and his friends on their adventures on Dragoza Island and their quest to uncover the secrets behind the Drop Impacts. While Funimation had streamed an English dubbed version of the anime in North America, it went on hiatus after 38 episodes due to licensing issues.
