Chou Shonen Tanteidan NEO is a multimedia franchise adapted from Edogawa Ranpo's Boy Detectives Club series, including a 2017 TV anime and a 2019 live-action tokusatsu film. The anime version follows the story of the 7th generation Kobayashi, the 7th generation Kogoro Akechi, and the 7th generation Fiend with Twenty Faces, along with new characters like Mayumi Hanasaki. The anime was produced by DLE, directed and written by Kazuhito Omiya, and featured character designs for the new Fiend with Twenty Faces by Yoshitaka Amano. The live-action tokusatsu film, Chou Shonen Tanteidan NEO -Beginning-, centers on Yoshiro Kobayashi, the great-grandson of Kobayashi, as he confronts the Fiend with Twenty Faces and his own destiny. It was directed by Shintaro Ashizuka and starred Mahiro Takasugi. The series offers modern reinterpretations of the source material, blending elements of youth and adventure, making it popular among young audiences. While the anime and film differ in plot and character presentation, both retain the suspense and mystery of the original novels.
