ēlDLIVE is a Japanese manga series created by Akira Amano. It began serialization in August 2013 on Shueisha's online app Jump LIVE, before moving to the digital publication Shonen Jump+ in September 2014. The series has been collected into seven tankōbon volumes. Viz Media currently publishes the English version digitally. A 12-episode anime television series adaptation by Pierrot aired between January 8, 2017, and March 26, 2017. The story follows Chuuta Kokonose, who has been able to hear a voice that no one else can since childhood. Due to his tendency to talk back to it, people around him consider him an oddball and call him 'Mumbling Chuuta'. One day, a strange blue alien recruits Chuuta to join the space police, ēlDLIVE. During the entrance exam, the source of the voice is revealed: a little alien living inside Chuuta, who he later names Dolugh. By combining their power, Chuuta passes the exam and becomes a member of ēlDLIVE. Together with his aloof teammate and classmate, Misuzu Sonokata, and his other colleagues, Chuuta must defeat the criminals who threaten the peace of the universe. The series blends action, sci-fi, comedy, and space themes, showcasing Chuuta's journey from an ordinary boy to a space police officer.
