"Bubuki Buranki: The Gentle Giants of the Galaxy," also known as "BBK/BRNK: The Gentle Giants of the Galaxy," is the second season of the anime series "Bubuki Buranki." Created by Sanzigen Inc. to commemorate its 10th anniversary, the first season aired from January to March 2016, while the second, subtitled "The Gentle Giants of the Galaxy," aired from October to December 2016. Set in a future where humans live on the floating Treasure Island, the story revolves around giant sentient robots called Buranki, which are mostly dormant. When some Buranki begin to awaken, Azuma Kazuki and his family are forced to flee. Ten years later, Azuma returns to a post-apocalyptic Shinjuku and teams up with Bubuki users. They seek to revive the lost Buranki Oubu, uncover the truth behind the Buranki, and fight against Reoko Banryu who rules over post-apocalyptic Japan. The plot focuses on the battles between Bubuki users and their journey to explore the mysteries of the Buranki. The second season continues the story, introducing new characters and challenges, further developing the world.
