Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Warriors of Love (Japanese: 宇宙戦艦ヤマト2202 愛の戦士たち, Uchū Senkan Yamato Ni-ni-zero-ni Ai no Senshi-tachi) is a Japanese military science fiction animated film series produced by Xebec, and the sequel to Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2199. It is adapted from the Space Battleship Yamato television series created by Yoshinobu Nishizaki and Leiji Matsumoto. The series is directed by Nobuyoshi Habara and written by Harutoshi Fukui, with character designs by Nobuteru Yuki. The first film was released simultaneously in Japanese theaters and streaming services starting February 25, 2017. Similar to the first film series, the second loosely adapts both the animated series Space Battleship Yamato II and the movie Arrivederci Yamato. The story is set in 2202, three years after the Gamillas invasion of the Solar System, with Earth restoring its biosphere using the Cosmo Reverse System and signing a peace treaty with Garmillas. However, Earth engages in military expansion, building new fleets and the battleship Andromeda, and developing new wave motion guns. A new threat, Gatlantis, also known as the White Comet Empire, begins to wreak havoc in the galaxy, and the goddess Teresa summons the Yamato to combat the new threat. The series consists of 7 theatrical films, later adapted into a 26-episode television anime, and was streamed in North America through Funimation and Crunchyroll.
