Trickster

"Trickster" is a multimedia franchise inspired by Edogawa Ranpo's "The Boy Detectives Club." It includes a 2016 Japanese anime series produced by TMS Entertainment and Shin-Ei Animation, and a 2020 Canadian supernatural drama television series adapted from Eden Robinson's novels. In the anime, "Trickster" follows the Boy Detectives Club members as they solve various mysteries, with Yoshio Kobayashi and Kogoro Akechi as central characters. The anime series premiered in Japan on October 4, 2016, and was licensed for English release by FUNimation Entertainment. On the other hand, the "Trickster" television series is adapted from Eden Robinson's "Trickster trilogy," telling the story of an Indigenous teen, Jared, struggling with a dysfunctional family while discovering a Haisla trickster in his life. The series premiered on CBC in Canada on October 7, 2020, and was distributed in the U.S. by The CW and AMC Networks' Sundance Now and Shudder. Both adaptations of "Trickster" revolve around themes of mystery, supernatural elements, and coming-of-age stories.
