"Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Koen Mae Hashutsujo THE FINAL: Kankichi Ryotsu's Last Day" is a TV anime special of "Kochikame" that aired on Fuji Television on September 18, 2016, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the manga's serialization. This special, the first new animation in eight years since 2008, also marked the end of the original manga series. The story follows Kankichi Ryotsu as he struggles to buy a drone and becomes involved in a kidnapping incident. To save the kidnapped princess of the Attakaino Kingdom, Ryotsu must battle the enemies. Ultimately, Ryotsu sacrifices himself to save the city but is later revived, as if nothing had happened. This special brought together many voice actors from various "Weekly Shonen Jump" anime and used the anime version's theme songs, serving as a culmination of the "Kochikame" anime. The special concludes with an illustration and message from original author Osamu Akimoto.
