Pokemon the Series: Sun & Moon

Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon, known as Pocket Monsters: Sun & Moon in Japan, is the seventh series of the Pokémon anime. It is based on the Generation VII Pokémon games and follows Ash Ketchum and Pikachu's adventures in the Alola region. Unlike previous series, Ash doesn't travel through the region for gym battles but instead attends the Pokémon School on Melemele Island, where he meets his new classmates Lillie, Lana, Mallow, Kiawe, and Sophocles. He participates in the island challenges to collect Z-Crystals and master Z-Moves. The series features a softer, more rounded "cartoony" art style, and incorporates more humor with exaggerated visual gags. It also addresses more mature themes, like death. The series premiered in Japan on November 17, 2016, and concluded on November 3, 2019. In the West, the series is split into three seasons: Sun & Moon, Ultra Adventures, and Ultra Legends.
