"Yo-kai Watch: Shadowside Oni-ō no Fukkatsu" (lit. Yo-kai Watch Shadow Side Film: Resurrection of the Oni King) is the fourth film in the Yo-kai Watch series, released in Japan on December 16, 2017. The story is set 30 years after the original series, with a new cast of characters. The boy who once had the ability to control Yo-kai has grown up and lost his ability to see them, and his Yo-kai Watch is sealed away in space-time. A new crisis arises as a Yo-kai virus called "Onimaro" spreads, infecting human malice and multiplying infinitely. To save the world, a new generation of Yo-kai Watch wielders must step forward. The film features Yo-kai with both "light side" and "shadow side" forms, and a more serious and horror-oriented art style. It also includes a crossover with the classic anime "GeGeGe no Kitaro," featuring Kitaro and his companions. The plot combines action, adventure, and friendship, with a new protagonist and Yo-kai fighting against evil forces and rebuilding the bond between humans and Yo-kai in a new world setting.
