ドリフターズ (2017)

"Drifters" (ドリフターズ) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Kouta Hirano, serialized irregularly in "Monthly Young King OURs" since 2009. The series is renowned for its unique concept of historical figures being transported to another world and its intense battle scenes, garnering a strong following. The story follows Shimazu Toyohisa, who is critically wounded at the Battle of Sekigahara and transported to a magical world filled with fantasy creatures. There, he meets other historical figures from different eras, known as "Drifters." Simultaneously, a group of antagonists called "Ends," also composed of historical figures with destructive aims, is active in this world. The Drifters must engage in fierce battles with the Ends to protect this alternate world. In 2016, "Drifters" was adapted into a TV anime series produced by Hoods Entertainment, followed by an OVA in 2017. The anime faithfully reproduced the manga's violent aesthetics and engaging plot, further expanding its influence. The series is characterized by its blend of historical, fantasy, and action elements, creating an exhilarating and imaginative world. The 2017 OVA continued the style of the TV anime, further exploring the adventures of the Drifters in this other world.
