The story revolves around the adventures of Nike, a reluctant hero, and Kukuri, a young magician, as they journey to defeat the evil Lord Giri. The series is known for its blend of fantasy, comedy, and RPG parodies, featuring unique humor and references to classic role-playing games. It has been adapted into multiple anime series, including the 2017 version titled "Mahoujin Guru Guru (2017)", produced by Production I.G and broadcast on TV Tokyo and other channels. This 24-episode remake retells Nike and Kukuri's story from the beginning, faithfully adapting the original manga while making some adjustments and additions to suit modern audiences. It follows the journey of Nike and Kukuri from Jimuna Village in Jamu Jamu Continent, as they set out to defeat Lord Giri using Kukuri’s “Guru Guru” magic. The anime is beloved for its lighthearted atmosphere and subversion of traditional fantasy tropes.
