After the Rain

"After the Rain," known in Japanese as "Koi wa Ameagari no You ni," is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Jun Mayuzuki. The story centers on Akira Tachibana, a 17-year-old high school student and former track star who is forced to give up running due to an injury. While working part-time at a family restaurant, she finds herself falling in love with her 45-year-old divorced manager, Masami Kondou. Despite the significant age difference, Akira is drawn to his kind and gentle nature. The narrative explores Akira's journey as she navigates these unexpected feelings and the deepening understanding between the two characters. The manga was initially serialized in "Monthly Big Comic Spirits" from June 2014 to November 2015, then moved to "Weekly Big Comic Spirits" from January 2016 to March 2018, compiling 10 tankōbon volumes. It has also been adapted into a 12-episode anime series by WIT STUDIO, which aired from January to March 2018, and a live-action film starring Nana Komatsu and Yo Oizumi, released in May 2018. In 2018, the manga won the 63rd Shogakukan Manga Award in the general category.
