Katana Maidens

Katana Maidens: Toji no Miko is an original Japanese anime series produced by Genco and animated by Studio Gokumi. The story is set in a world where grotesque beings called 'Aradama' threaten humanity. To combat this threat, shrine maidens known as 'Toji', wielding Japanese swords (okatana), have been established. They attend one of five integrated middle-and-high training schools across Japan, learning swordsmanship while also serving as members of the Special Ritual Riot Squad, a police unit. These girls balance normal school life with their duties, wielding their swords and using paranormal powers to protect humanity. The narrative follows these Toji, their daily lives, training, and battles against the Aradama. It also includes a tournament featuring the best Toji from the five schools, which leads to a complex conflict and uncovers a mysterious background connected to the end of World War II. The series has also spawned manga, mobile games, and an OVA.
