Hakumei and Mikochi

Hakumei and Mikochi (ハクメイとミコチ) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Takuto Kashiki. The story revolves around the daily lives of two tiny girls, Hakumei and Mikochi, who are only 9 centimeters tall, living in the forest. Hakumei is an energetic and tomboyish carpenter, while Mikochi is a gentle and calm tailor. They live in a small house in a tree, riding insects and birds, and making umbrellas out of leaves, enjoying a happy and comfortable life. The manga has been serialized in Enterbrain's seinen manga magazine Fellows! (later renamed Harta) since 2011, and as of January 15, 2024, has been collected into 12 tankōbon volumes. A television anime adaptation by Lerche aired from January 12 to March 30, 2018, consisting of 12 episodes. Additionally, a second DVD/Blu-ray volume containing two OVAs was released on June 27, 2018. Hakumei and Mikochi is beloved for its detailed artwork and relaxing, light-hearted slice-of-life stories. It presents a fantastical miniature world, exploring the interactions of the two main characters with their environment and other small creatures.
