Evil or Live

"Evil or Live" is a Chinese manhua created by Li Xiaonan and serialized on Tencent Comics. It was later adapted into a Chinese-Japanese co-produced anime series. The story is set in a society where internet addiction is rampant, focusing on Hibiki, a teenager who is sent to the Elite Reeducation Academy for his addiction. The academy turns out to be more like a prison, subjecting students to cruel treatment. In his despair, Hibiki meets a mysterious man named Shin, who promises to give his life meaning. The anime follows Hibiki and Shin as they uncover the academy's corruption and dark secrets, ultimately burning it down. Although the anime has an ending, many mysteries remain, such as Shin's true identity and Hibiki's relationship with the female character, Shiori. The anime adapts early chapters of the ongoing manhua, leaving room for a second season. However, the anime adaptation has been heavily criticized for its rushed pace, poor animation, and changes to the storyline. Despite this, its exploration of social issues and complex characters has intrigued some viewers.
