The story revolves around a salaryman from modern Japan who dies in an accident and is reincarnated as a baby in a magical world. He is adopted by the patriotic hero known as the "Sage" Merlin Wolford and named Shin. The story follows Shin's adventures as he attends a magic academy, interacts with his classmates, and uses his knowledge from modern Japan to change the magical world. The series began serialization online in January 2015 on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō, and was later acquired by Enterbrain, which has published it under their Famitsu Bunko imprint since July 2015. It has also been adapted into a manga and an anime series produced by Silver Link, which aired from April to June 2019. The series is known for its lighthearted tone and the protagonist's exceptional magical abilities.
