Megalobox

Megalobox (Japanese: メガロボクス, Hepburn: Megarobokusu) is a Japanese anime television series produced by TMS Entertainment and its subsidiary 3xCube, and directed by Yō Moriyama in his directorial debut. Created in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the manga Ashita no Joe, Megalobox is set in a late 21st-century Japan where boxers wear powered exoskeletons known as 'Gears' to enhance their fighting abilities. The story centers on an underground fighter known only as 'Junk Dog,' who decides to participate in the Megalonia boxing tournament to challenge the champion, Yūri. After his encounter with Yūri, Junk Dog is determined to change his fate, adopting the name 'Joe.' He has three months to climb the rankings and qualify for Megalonia. The anime is acclaimed for its unique retro-futuristic aesthetic, dynamic music, and engaging storyline. It pays homage to the classic boxing manga Ashita no Joe while exploring themes of struggle, friendship, and self-redemption. The series has two seasons: Megalobox and Megalobox 2: Nomad.
