Kakuriyo: Bed & Breakfast for Spirits

"Kakuriyo: Bed & Breakfast for Spirits" (かくりよの宿飯), also known as "Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi", is a Japanese light novel series written by Midori Yūma and illustrated by Laruha. The story follows Aoi Tsubaki, a young woman who can see spirits (ayakashi). After her grandfather's death, she discovers he has a massive debt and is taken to the Hidden Realm as collateral. To avoid marrying an ogre god, the Master Innkeeper Oodanna, Aoi decides to work at his inn, Tenjin-ya, to pay off the debt. Using her culinary skills, she provides meals to the ayakashi, impacting their lives. The series blends food, heartwarming interactions between humans and spirits, and Aoi's growth in a different world. It has been adapted into a manga and a 26-episode anime series in 2018. Due to its unique premise and warm storyline, it gained popularity, and a second season is scheduled for Fall 2025.
