"Mr. Tonegawa Middle Management Blues" (Chuukan Kanriroku Tonegawa) is a spin-off manga series of Nobuyuki Fukumoto's "Kaiji" series, written by Tensei Hagiwara and illustrated by Tomohiro Hashimoto and Tomoki Miyoshi. It focuses on Yukio Tonegawa, a high-ranking executive in the Teiai Corporation and right-hand man to the tyrannical chairman Hyodo. The story comically portrays Tonegawa's struggles as a middle manager, dealing with Hyodo's erratic demands and the challenges posed by his subordinates. Unlike the serious tone of the original "Kaiji" manga, "Mr. Tonegawa" is a comedic take on the corporate world, showcasing the absurd situations Tonegawa finds himself in as he tries to keep Hyodo in good spirits. The manga was serialized from 2015 to 2020 in "Monthly Young Magazine" and "Comic DAYS" and was adapted into a 24-episode anime series, which also included segments from the spin-off "1-nichi Gaishutsuroku Hanchou". It is popular for its unique humor and its relatable portrayal of office life.
