It has been serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine since December 2003, with 51 tankōbon volumes released as of June 2019. The story follows Sora Kurumatani, a short but passionate basketball player, who joins the Kuzuryu High School basketball team, only to find it's a hangout for delinquents. Despite this, Sora's dedication and love for the game inspire the team to grow and face challenges together. A 50-episode anime adaptation by Diomedéa aired from October 2019 to September 2020. The anime is also available on platforms like Crunchyroll, HIDIVE, and Netflix. The manga has had multiple hiatuses due to the author's health but has remained a key series in Weekly Shōnen Magazine. The series is known for its detailed depiction of basketball and character development, with over 24 million copies in circulation.
