Carole & Tuesday (Japanese: キャロル&チューズデイ) is an original anime television series directed by Shinichirō Watanabe and produced by Bones. It was created to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Studio Bones and the 10th anniversary of record label FlyingDog. The 24-episode series aired from April 11 to October 3, 2019, on Fuji TV's +Ultra programming block. The story is set fifty years after humanity's migration to Mars, where most culture is produced by AI, and people are content to be passive consumers. It follows two young women, Carole and Tuesday, both with aspirations to become musicians. Carole is a part-time musician struggling to make ends meet in Alba City, while Tuesday is a lonely girl from a wealthy family who dreams of being understood through music. Their fateful meeting leads them to team up and pursue their musical ambitions. The anime is critically acclaimed for its unique musical style, impressive animation, and profound themes, and has received several award nominations, including Best Score at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards.
