The story is set in an era following the sudden appearance of a new continent called Magmell, which is filled with unexplored natural resources and dangerous wildlife. To explore this new land, a profession known as "anglers" emerged, specializing in dealing with Magmell's perilous creatures. The protagonist is Inyou, a skilled and experienced angler, who along with his assistant Zero, provides search and rescue services for clients. The manga was first serialized on Fanfan Dongman's website in 2015 and later licensed in Japan on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ app under the name Gunjō no Magmell. In 2019, a Japanese anime television series adaptation by Studio Signpost (formerly Pierrot+) was released with 13 episodes. The anime aired on Tokyo MX and BS Fuji and was later streamed on Netflix in the fall of 2019. The anime's opening theme is "Dash&Daaash!!" by Fudanjuku, and the ending theme is "The Key" by A Flood of Circle. Ultramarine Magmell blends adventure, action, and fantasy elements, showcasing the thrill and challenges of exploring an unknown world.
