"A Destructive God Sits Next to Me" (ぼくのとなりに暗黒破壊神がいます。, Boku no Tonari ni Ankoku Hakaishin ga Imasu.) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Arata Aki. The story revolves around Seri Koyuki, who is trying to live a normal high school life, and his eccentric classmate, Kabuto Hanadori. Kabuto is immersed in his own fantasy world, sometimes believing himself to be a knight saving the world, and other times claiming that he has a dark alter-ego named 'Michael Offenbarung Dunkelheit' sealed within his eye. Seri tries hard not to be influenced by Kabuto's antics, but he always finds himself drawn into embarrassing situations. The manga was serialized in Media Factory's shōjo manga magazine Monthly Comic Gene from January 2013 to April 2020, and was collected in twelve tankōbon volumes. An anime television series adaptation by EMT Squared aired from January 11 to March 28, 2020, consisting of 12 episodes. This work is well-received for its lighthearted and comedic plot and its distinctive characters.
