"Outburst Dreamer Boys" (厨病激発ボーイ, Chuubyou Gekihatsu Boy), also known as "Young Disease Outburst Boy," is a Japanese mixed-media project originating from a Vocaloid song series by rerulili. The series centers around boys suffering from "chuunibyou," or Middle School 2nd Year Syndrome, causing them to believe they have special powers. The original song has garnered over 10 million views on YouTube and is one of rerulili's and Kagamine Len's most notable works. The project expanded into a light novel series written by rerulili and Minato Tonami, published by Kadokawa Shoten. A manga adaptation, illustrated by Megumi Hazuki, was serialized in Ribon Special magazine. In 2019, an anime adaptation by Studio Deen aired, depicting the story of Mizuki Hijiri, a transfer student who encounters the infamous Hero Club, a group of boys with various types of chuunibyou, including Yamato Noda, a self-proclaimed righteous hero; Kazuhiro Nakamura, a reincarnation of a demon-angel hybrid; Tomoki Takashima, a pretty-boy otaku; and Rei Tsukumo, a schemer. Hijiri is reluctantly drawn into their world of delusions, leading to an exciting and unconventional school life.
