Shikizakura (シキザクラ) is an original anime television series co-produced by Chukyo TV and animation studio Sublimation. The series is chiefly directed by Shinya Sugai, directed by Gō Kurosaki, and features character designs by Manabu Nakatake. The story takes place in a special location called Shikizakura, where autumn leaves and cherry blossoms bloom simultaneously, connecting the human world and the demon world. A ritual to save the human world is about to begin. High school student Kakeru Miwa becomes an irregular member of a powered suit team fighting against oni. These oni possess humans, and only the “Yoroi,” powered suits that combine ancient secrets and cutting-edge technology, can protect people from them. Determined to become a hero, Kakeru battles oni to protect Ōka Myōjin, the shrine maiden destined to save the world. The story unfolds in the Shikizakura season amidst autumn leaves and cherry petals, blending the past and the future, the real world and the spirit world, and people’s thoughts and hopes into a heroic action-adventure. The anime aired from October to December 2021, with a total of 12 episodes.
