Cagaster of an Insect Cage (Japanese: 虫籠のカガステル, Hepburn: Mushikago no Kagasuteru) is a Japanese manga series by Kachō Hashimoto. The series was initially a dōjinshi series posted on Hashimoto's website from 2005 to 2013. It was later serialized in the magazine Monthly Comic Ryū from 2015 to 2016, and compiled into seven tankōbon volumes. The story is set in a post-apocalyptic world where a virus called "Cagaster" turns humans into giant, man-eating insects. The narrative follows Kidou, a young exterminator, in the year 2125, thirty years after the onset of the disease, as he protects a girl named Ilie and embarks on a journey to find her mother. The manga was adapted into an original net animation (ONA) series produced by Studio Kai and directed by Koichi Chigira, which premiered on Netflix in 2020. The animation depicts Kidou and Ilie's adventures as they navigate a world full of danger and insects. The anime was released worldwide on Netflix on February 6, 2020, with a total of 12 episodes. Sentai Filmworks has licensed the anime for home media release.
