Bofuri: I Don`t Want to Get Hurt, So I`ll Max Out My Defense.

"Bofuri: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense." (Japanese: 痛いのは嫌なので防御力に極振りしたいと思います。) is a Japanese light novel series written by Yuumikan. The story follows Kaede Honjou (in-game character name Maple) who, after being invited by her friend Risa Shiramine, starts playing the VRMMO game "New World Online". Due to her fear of pain, she puts all her attribute points into defense. This results in slow movement, inability to use magic, and even being attacked by rabbits, but also grants her the skill "Absolute Defense" and a "Counter Skill" against special attacks. Thus, she begins her adventure. The series was initially serialized on the novel posting site "Shōsetsuka ni Narō" in 2016, and was published as a light novel by Fujimi Shobo in 2017. A manga adaptation by Jirō Oimoto began serialization in 2018. The first season of the anime adaptation produced by Silver Link aired in January 2020, and the second season aired in January 2023. The series is popular for its lighthearted style and protagonist Maple's unique skill tree.
