The 8th Son? Are You Kidding Me?

"The 8th Son? Are You Kidding Me?" (Japanese: 八男って、それはないでしょう!, Hachinan tte, Sore wa Nai Deshō!) is a Japanese fantasy light novel series written by Y.A. and illustrated by Fuzichoco. The story follows Shingo Ichinomiya, a 25-year-old company worker who wakes up in a magical fantasy world as Wendelin von Benno Baumeister, the sixth son of a poor noble family. As the eighth son, Wendelin realizes that he needs to change his situation due to his family's impoverished state. He discovers his rare magical talent, which unfortunately doesn't bring prosperity to his family, but rather, disaster. He decides to forge his own path using his magic. The series was serialized online from June 2013 to March 2017 on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō, and later published by Media Factory. It has also been adapted into a manga and an anime series, with the anime airing in 2020 and produced by Shin-Ei Animation.
