Throne of Elves, originally known as Dragon Nest 2: Throne of Elves, is a Chinese animated adventure romance film directed by Song Yuefeng. It was released in China on August 19, 2016, in both 2D and 3D formats. Serving as the sequel to the 2014 animated film Dragon Nest: Warriors' Dawn, the movie is based on the video game Dragon Nest. The story unfolds several years after the events of its predecessor, where a human youth named Little Fish is invited to the mystical elf kingdom to attend the wedding of the elven queen. Simultaneously, the dark elf Meyla kidnaps the queen in an attempt to seize the Gem of Life, a powerful artifact that controls the life force of the elves. To protect his beloved Liya, Little Fish joins forces with the elves on a quest to rescue the queen. The film primarily explores the conflict between elves, the relationship between Liya and Lambert (Little Fish), and is largely set in Anu Arendel. Originally conceived as the second part of a Dragon Nest trilogy, contractual issues with the distributor led to its release as a standalone film, yet still maintaining the narrative continuity of the Dragon Nest movie series.
