"That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime" (Japanese: 転生したらスライムだった件, Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken), also known as "TenSura" or "Slime Isekai", is a Japanese light novel series written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah. It was originally serialized on the website Shōsetsuka ni Narō between 2013 and 2016, and later published by Micro Magazine. The story follows Satoru Mikami, a 37-year-old salaryman, who is murdered and reincarnated in another world as a slime. Taking the name Rimuru Tempest, he embarks on an adventure, builds a nation, and amasses power. The series is praised for its unique world-building, engaging plot, and well-developed characters. The first season of the 8-Bit-produced anime adaptation aired in 2018, followed by a second season in 2021. A spin-off anime, "The Slime Diaries", also aired in 2021. A three-episode original net animation, "Visions of Coleus," was released in 2023, and the third season of the main anime series premiered in 2024. In addition, the series has manga adaptations and multiple video game adaptations. "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime" has become a leading example of the isekai genre. As of October 2023, the light novel series has 21 volumes and has been licensed in multiple languages.
