The protagonist, Arte, is the only daughter of a declining noble family. Despite her talent for painting, after her father's death, her mother tries to force her to abandon her artistic dreams and marry into another noble family to save their household from ruin. Arte defies her fate and leaves home to find a master painter. In an era where women are excluded from art, she perseveres and becomes the apprentice of a young painter named Leo. The manga began serialization in Monthly Comic Zenon in October 2013 and is published by Tokuma Shoten. In 2020, it was adapted into an anime television series by Seven Arcs, which depicts Arte's journey as she challenges gender discrimination and pursues her artistic dreams.
