Kemono Jihen (怪物事変), also known as Monster Incidents, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Sho Aimoto. It has been serialized in Shueisha's Jump Square magazine since December 2016. The story follows Kohachi Inugami, a detective specializing in the occult, who is called to a remote mountain village to investigate a series of strange incidents involving decaying animal corpses. There, he meets Kabane, a mysterious boy who is shunned by his peers and nicknamed "Dorotabo". Together, they uncover the truth behind the incidents, revealing a world of supernatural creatures called "Kemono." The manga has been adapted into an anime television series by Ajia-do Animation Works, which aired from January to March 2021. The series combines action, mystery, and supernatural elements, exploring the complex relationship between humans and Kemono. Kabane is revealed to be a half-ghoul, and his true nature and relationship with Inugami are central to the plot. The series also features other Kemono with unique abilities, enriching the mystical world. Both the manga and anime have garnered significant attention and have been translated into multiple languages.
