Digimon Adventure: (デジモンアドベンチャー:, Dejimon Adobenchā:), sometimes referred to as Digimon Adventure: (2020), is the ninth anime series in the Digimon franchise. It is a reboot of the original 1999 Digimon Adventure series, set in 2020 instead of 1999, and is not part of the original series' continuity. The series follows eight DigiDestined children and their Digimon partners as they embark on an adventure to prevent crises in the Digital World from spilling into the real world. The story centers around the network and portrays the intertwining of the digital and real worlds in modern society. Protagonist Taichi Yagami accidentally enters the Digital World during a major network failure and meets Agumon, subsequently joining the other DigiDestined on their journey. They must confront formidable enemies, uncover the secrets of the Digital World, and ultimately save both worlds. This reboot retains classic elements from the original while adding new storylines and character development to appeal to contemporary audiences.
