I`m Standing on a Million Lives

"I'm Standing on a Million Lives" (100万の命の上に俺は立っている, Hyakuman no Inochi no Ue ni Ore wa Tatte Iru) is a Japanese manga series written by Naoki Yamakawa and illustrated by Akinari Nao. It has been serialized in Kodansha's shōnen manga magazine Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine since June 2016. The manga is licensed in North America by Kodansha USA. An anime television series adaptation produced by Maho Film aired from October to December 2020, with a second season airing from July to September 2021. The story follows Yuusuke Yotsuya, an antisocial third-year junior high school student, who is transported to a fantasy game world alongside two female classmates, Iu Shindo and Kusue Hakozaki. They must complete quests to survive, and Yotsuya demonstrates a cold, rational approach, even prioritizing mission success over his teammates’ lives. While his methods often lead to misunderstandings and isolation, his companions ultimately rely on his strength and intelligence in crucial moments. The series is noted for its unconventional isekai premise and morally gray characters.
