The "Wan Guo Quan Tu" (Complete Map of All the Kingdoms) is a world map drawn by the Jesuit missionary Giulio Aleni, following in the footsteps of Matteo Ricci, and published in 1623. This map uses an oval projection, referencing Ricci's "Kunyu Wanguo Quantu" and adding new geographical information, such as the Pacific Ocean and New Guinea. Aleni wrote a preface, "Wan Guo Tu Xiaoyin," for the map, explaining his principles, stating that the Earth is round, and introducing the five continents on the map: Asia, Europe, Libya, America, and Magellanica. The "Wan Guo Quan Tu" was also included in the beginning of Aleni’s "Zhifang Waiji," which contained seven maps, including the world map, maps of each continent, and maps of the northern and southern hemispheres. This map is of great significance in the history of early Chinese cartography, representing a combination of Western cartographic techniques and traditional Chinese maps. It is an important source for studying geographical knowledge and cultural exchange between China and the West at that time.
