Kageki Shojo!!

"Kageki Shojo!!" (かげきしょうじょ!!) is a Japanese manga series created by Kumiko Saiki. Originally serialized as "Kageki Shojo!" (かげきしょうじょ!) from 2012 to 2014 in Shueisha's Jump X magazine, it moved to Hakusensha's Melody magazine in 2015 under the title "Kageki Shojo!!" after the former magazine's discontinuation. Set in the Taisho era, the story revolves around the Kouka Revue Company, an all-female opera troupe known for its stunning performances. The narrative focuses on two main characters: Sarasa Watanabe, who aspires to be an otokoyaku (an actress playing male roles), and Ai Narata, a former idol with a deep-seated aversion to men. They meet at the highly competitive Kouka School of Musical and Theatrical Arts, embarking on a journey to pursue their dreams. The series explores themes of friendship, rivalry, ambition, and personal growth. The manga has been adapted into an anime television series of the same name, produced by Pine Jam and aired in 2021. The anime follows the storyline of the manga, depicting the youthful struggles of the opera girls and their journey to achieve their aspirations, while also exploring the characters' inner conflicts and complex emotions.
