Battle Game in 5 Seconds

"Battle Game in 5 Seconds" (Japanese: 出会って5秒でバトル, "Deatte 5-byō de Batoru"), also known as "Battle in 5 Seconds After Meeting," is a Japanese manga series written by Saizō Harawata and illustrated by Kashiwa Miyako. It originated as a webcomic by Harawata and was later remade with Miyako's illustrations, serialized on Shogakukan's MangaONE app and Ura Sunday website starting in August 2015. The story follows high school student Akira Shiroyanagi who is suddenly drawn into a mysterious battle game where he and other participants are told that they are erased from the family register, involved in an experiment, and gained certain powers. Akira is determined to use his newfound abilities and his sharp intellect to win the game and destroy the organization behind it. The manga was adapted into an anime in July 2021, produced by SynergySP and Vega Entertainment, and streamed outside Asia by Crunchyroll. The series is known for its unique setting and its focus on intelligence-based battles and was nominated for the 67th Shogakukan Manga Award in the shōnen category. As of October 2024, the manga has 26 volumes and has gained a significant global readership.
