The Detective Is Already Dead

"The Detective Is Already Dead" (Japanese: 探偵はもう、死んでいる。, Hepburn: Tantei wa Mō, Shinde Iru.) is a Japanese light novel series written by Nigojū and illustrated by Umibōzu. The story follows Kimihiko Kimizuka, a young man who constantly finds himself in trouble, and his encounter with Siesta, a self-proclaimed legendary detective. After becoming her assistant, they embark on numerous adventures together, fighting against a secret organization for three years until Siesta tragically dies. One year after her death, Kimihiko tries to live a normal life but is drawn back into mysteries when he meets a girl who resembles Siesta. The series has been adapted into a manga and anime, gaining significant popularity and awards. As of July 2022, the light novel series has sold over 1 million copies and is a notable work in the light novel genre.
