The movie "Backflip!!" is a Japanese animated film released in 2022, serving as a sequel to the original TV anime series "Backflip!!" that aired in 2021. Set in the city of Iwanuma in Miyagi Prefecture, it tells the passionate youth story of boys who dream of men's rhythmic gymnastics. The protagonist, Shotaro Futaba, joins the men's rhythmic gymnastics club at Soshukan High School (commonly known as Ao High) and works hard with his unique teammates to achieve good results at their final Inter-High tournament in the summer. However, the results of the competition are not always smooth, and the seniors in their third year are about to graduate, posing new challenges for the team. The film focuses not just on the competition itself but also on the growth of the boys as they face setbacks and confusion in their youth, eventually finding their direction forward. The film is produced by the same team as the TV anime, with Toshimasa Kuroyanagi as the director, ZEXCS handling the animation, and the Aomori Yamada High School Men's Rhythmic Gymnastics Club supervising to ensure the professionalism of the rhythmic gymnastics movements. The theme song is sung by wacci, and the insert song is performed by centimillimental, adding moving melodies to the film.
